As part of the Operating Base, the Information Router ensures optimal connectivity between the Nexeed Industrial Application System and the connected data sources (stations, machine controls, gateways and other devices on the shopfloor). It is the hub for all PPMP messages that arrive via HTTPS. The Information Router forwards the messages to the corresponding modules. Data bottlenecks and data loss can be avoided thanks to asynchronous or parallel forwarding and by informing the device about a successful transmission.

The Information Router keeps the process lean: each data source sends the username, password, and information to the Information Router, which ensures distribution, authentication, and authorization with the modules. The Information Router ensures high message throughput, short response times, and high transmission reliability. This makes it possible to avoid redundancies regarding identical data records at different points in the system.
