Using milk runs efficiently

The Transport Management module plans and optimizes the entire internal transport with milk runs in real time. All vehicles are stored in the system with their features, such as loading capacities and planned routes. Live data, such as current loading status, position, and degree of loading, are processed or calculated. Based on this information, the appropriate milk run is selected for incoming transport orders and scheduled according to prioritization.

The route train, which previously had to stoically travel along all the defined waypoints, now orients itself to goods that are actually ready for pickup and shortens partial routes where no delivery order has currently been registered. The drivers receive the latest information on the route and the transports via a tablet. In the background, the system continuously checks the incoming orders and decides which orders can be incorporated into the vehicle's route. Since the system knows and controls all milkrun routes in the plant, it enables functional traffic planning, which makes work easier, safer and more pleasant for everyone involved.
